Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been formally charged over an incident that occurred at London’s Heathrow Airport, in which she allegedly assaulted a police officer, her lawyer has revealed.
Campbell, 38, was charged on Thursday (May 29) when she reported to Heathrow police station to answer bail over the April 3 incident, her lawyer Simon Nicholls said.
He said she was told to appear in court on June 20.
Witnesses said Campbell was aboard a British Airways plane due to take off for Los Angeles, when she became involved in a dispute over her luggage.
Campbell has a history of assaulting assistants and employees; in 2000, she pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating an assistant while making a film in Canada in 1998, and in January 2007, she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in New York for throwing her cell phone at her maid in a dispute over a missing pair of jeans.
